Help Guide: Setup your school email on your smartphone

Important Information for Huawei Smartphones

As of May 2019. The United States Government restricted US software companies from dealing with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. This means that Huawei smartphones manufactured after this date do not come preloaded with the Google Play Store or Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, etc.
If you purchased a Huawei smartphone after May 2019 you will have only have access to Huawei's own alternatives to the Google Playstore and Google Apps however some alternatives necessary for your education do not exist on Huawei's platform, such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, Satchel One (ShowMy Homework) or SIMS Student.

  1. Search for and launch the Settings App

  • Ensure your smartphone is connected to the Internet.


  • Search for the Settings App - you can either search for it by name or seek it by scrolling through apps. It will look like a clog wheel similar to the image on the right.

2. Select Accounts and Backup or Passwords & Accounts

      • Android:

      • Scroll down on the Settings App to find and select Accounts and Backup. On some versions this may be called Accounts.

3. Select Add Account

      • Android:

      • On Android you may have to select Account first then you will see the Add Account option.

4. Select Google

      • Select Google

5. Enter your school email and password

      • Enter your school email


      • Your school email will be in the format of your username followed by @gladesmorestudent.com


      • Click Next once done


      • Enter your school email password and click Next

6. Select I agree or Save

      • Click I agree


      • Your school email is now setup on your smartphone. You can close the Settings App and proceed to the final step to access your school emails.


      • It is recommended to read the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy for any service you use or subscribe to. It is up to you to read this in your own time.

7. Launch the Mail or Gmail App

      • You can now close the Settings App and go back to your Home Screen


      • Look for and launch the Gmail App or the Mail App or a similar e-mail app on your smartphone device.


      • Once launched you will see your School emails. You are now ready to send or receive school emails related to your study.

Remember that your school emails must only be used for the purposes of your study during your time at Gladesmore.
